JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Crescent Star Party (PBB) has withdrawn its petition over the 2024 Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) election results for the Jayawijaya Regency in Papua Pegunungan Province. The hearing for case No. 217-01-13-37/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 took place on Friday, May 3, 2024.
The Petitioner’s legal counsel Muhamad Ahsan stated that PBB has submitted a request to withdraw their election dispute petition.
“As PBB’s legal counsel, I formally submit a written request to withdraw the petition No. 217,” he said in the plenary courtroom. The case was heard by Panel 1, consisting of Chief Justice Suhartoyo (panel chair) and Constitutional Justices Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh and M. Guntur Hamzah.
In the petitum, the Petitioner alleged that there was a reduction of PBB’s votes in the Jayawijaya electoral districts 1-4 for the election of members of the Jayawijaya Regency DPRD. According to the Petitioner, the General Elections Commission (KPU) had deliberately reduced PBB’s votes and transferred them to another party.
