JAKARTA, (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) held a preliminary hearing for the Dispute over the General Election Results (PHPU) for DPR-DPRD on Thursday afternoon (5/2/2024). The session was chaired by Chief Justice Suhartoyo with Constitutional Justices Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh and Guntur M. Hamzah.

The National Mandate Party (PAN) has filed a petition over the 2024 general election results to the Constitutional Court (MK) for the election of Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) members in the South Papua electoral district, objecting the General Elections Commission (KPU) Decision Number 360 of 2024. The preliminary hearing for case No. 273-01-12-35/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024, represented by Zulkifli Hasan as the Chairman and Eddy Soeparno as the Secretary-General, took place in the Panel 1 Courtroom of the Court.

The petitioner's legal counsel, Moh. Fahruddin, declared the petition to be withdrawn during the hearing. PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan had signed the withdrawal request, according to him.

“Your Honor, I am just passing on a mandate from the National Mandate Party chairman to withdraw the case No. 273-01-12-35/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024. We hope Your Honor will grant our withdrawal request." said the Petitioner's Legal Counsel, Moh Fahruddin.

The petitioner previously accused the respondent of recapitulation violations for all polling stations in each district, specifically Obaa and Miyanmur. Therefore, the votes in these two districts should be annulled.
