JAKARTA, (MKRI) —The Golkar Party has filed a petition over the General Election Results (PHPU) for 2024 with the Constitutional Court (MK) in South Papua Province. The election dispute in question affects the acquisition of seats for members of the House of Representatives (DPR), Provincial (Regional Legislative Council/Papuan People’s Representatives’ Council (DPRD/DPRP) , and Regency/City DPRD/ District House of Representatives (DPRK) in South Papua 3.
The petitioner for the case No. 264-01-04-35/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024, Totok Prasetiyanto, claimed that the General Elections Commission (KPU) failed to announce the vote results for DPR members from Kampung Taim and Kampung Sepo during the Passue District recapitulation.
The Passue District Election Committee (PPD) Chair reportedly provided specific instructions for the DPR RI election at TPS 02 in Kampung Taim, Kampung Kotup, and TPS 01–02 in Kampung Sepo, the District Capital of Paassue. “These TPS did not hold voting on February 14, 2024," he told Chief Justice Suhartoyo in MK Plenary Court.
The petitioner claimed that the respondent violated KPU Regulation No. 25 of 2023 on Voting and Vote Counting in General Elections, Article 60 paragraph (10). The respondent ignored recommendations for a ballot recount for the DPR, DPD,Provincial DPR Election in South Papua District 3, and Regency/City DPRD in Passue, Haju, Miyanmur, and Obaa districts.
The petitioner also claimed that political parties and the National Mandate Party (PAN) candidate received 260 more votes during the provincial-level recapitulation on March 13, 2024, from 5,430 to 5,690.
"PAN received 5,430 votes in Mappi Regency to fill the Provincial DPRP seat in South Papua District 3. The National Mandate Party (PAN) accepted the vote count results certified by the respondent from 15 districts in Mappi Regency (South Papua Electoral District 3) at the recapitulation "Totok explained.
In the petitum, the petitioner asked the Court to annul the General Elections Commission Decision No. 360 of 2024 for the South Papua electoral area for filling the membership of the DPR RI and the Provincial DPRP of South Papua. (*)
