JAKARTA, (MKRI) — Democratic Party legislative candidate (caleg) Letena Liwiya has petitioned the Constitutional Court (MK) over the 2024 General Election Results (PHPU). She disputed the vote for members of Electoral District 1 DPRD, which includes twelve districts, in the Tolikara Regency.
"Her valid votes totaled 4,637," her legal counsel Hendrik Tomasoa said on Friday, May 3, 2024, in the Plenary Courtroom of Building 1 of the Court, Central Jakarta. The case No.89-02-14-37/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 was heard by panel 1—Chief Justice Suhartoyo (panel chair) and Constitutional Justices Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh and M. Guntur Hamzah.
Papua Pegunungan elections use the noken system, where voting rights holders deliberating and coming to an agreement, led by village and tribal chiefs, supported by photographic evidence, and observed by political party representatives. The petitioner claimed that a seat in DPRD of Tolikara Regency, Electoral District 1 was unsuccessful due to a change in vote total from 4,637 to 2,136 votes.
The petitioner asked the Court to annul the General Elections Commission (KPU) Decree No. 360 of 2024 for Electoral District 1 of Tolikara, Papua Pegunungan, for the Democratic Party, ballot number 6 in her name, and to certify the correct vote count for her to fill the DPRD member position in Electoral District 4 for the Democratic Party, she got 2,501 votes.
