JAKARTA (MKRI) — A legislative candidate from Democratic Party Wali Wonda filed a petition on 2024 general election results dispute (PHPU) to the Constitutional Court (MK) for the filling of member candidates for Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) of Papua Pegunungan Electoral District (Dapil) 4. The Petitioner argues that there was a reduction in his vote acquisition and the addition of votes to fellow Democratic Party candidates, so that Wali Wonda failed to get a seat in the Papua Pegunungan Provincial DPRD.
Wali Wonda claimed that he received 9,309 votes, making him second. A total of 4,283 votes were not counted and included in the C.copy-DPRPP form. The total number of Wali Wonda's valid votes from seven districts in Papua Pegunungan 4 constituency amounted to 13,592 votes.
According to him, the difference in votes was given to another Democratic Party candidate on behalf of Yalimer Kogoya. He claimed to have filed an objection to the alleged violations committed by the chairman and members of the Numba district election committee (PPD). However, the Tolikara Regency KPU (General Elections Commission) canceled the recapitulation of the vote count after the objection was submitted.
"The Chairman and Members of the Tolikara KPU ignored and did not even pay attention to and did not respond to the protests and objections of the witness Wali Wonda," said the Applicant's lawyer, Hendrik Tomasoa in the plenary courtroom of Building 1 of the Court, on Friday, May 3, 2024. Case No. 253-02-14-37/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 was heard by Chief Justice Suhartoyo and Constitutional Justices Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh and M. Guntur Hamzah.
On his petitum, he requests the Court to cancel the KPU Decree Number 360 of 2024 throughout Papua Pegunungan 4 of the Democratic Party on behalf of the Petitioner. He also requests the Court to determine the correct vote acquisition results for the filling of the candidate for the Papua Pegunungan 4 Provincial DPRD members as long as in the Papua Pegunungan 4 of the Democratic Party, Wali Wonda received 13,592 votes.(*)
