JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) filed a 2024 Legislative election result dispute (PHPU) petition to the Constitutional Court. The petitioner challenges the votes of several Gerindra legislative candidates affecting the Gerindra Party's votes to fill the membership electoral district (dapil) 1, 4 and 5 of Papua Provincial DPRD (DPRP), and Dapil 1 the Keerom Regency DPRD.
“The challenge is similar regarding the reduction of the Petitioner's vote,” said the Petitioner's legal counsel, Gatot Rusbal in the Panel Courtroom on Thursday (2/5/2024).
According to the Petitioner, the discrepancy in the vote margin stemmed from Gerindra's votes in Dapil I Papua Province being reduced by 5,446 votes. This reduction allegedly occurred due to the Respondent's failure to include Gerindra's votes from Jayapura City in their determination of the results..
Gerindra's vote acquisition was also reduced in Abepura District of Jayapura City by 4,935 votes. The margin of votes was because Respondent ignored the Petitioner's challenge to the Golkar Party's vote acquisition in Abepura District as stated in the Petitioner's challenge form.

In his petitum, Petitioner requested that the Court cancel the General Election Commission (KPU) Decree No. 360 of 2024 on Stipulation of PHPU on the certification of the 2024 legislative election results of the DPR (House of Representatives), DPD (Regional Representatives Council), and Provincial and Regency/City DPRD (Regional Legislative Council) announced nationally in the 2024 Election on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 22:19 WIB throughout the Asmat District of South Papua Province for the filling of DPR candidates.
