JAKARTA (MKRI) — The National Awakening Party (PKB) has filed a petition over the 2024 legislative election results to the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the change of seats for the DPRD (Regional Legislative Council) of Yapen Regency in the electoral district of Yapen 2. The Petitioner alleges that after the vote acquisition was accumulated, seats for several political parties changed due to the addition and reduction of votes.

“So, here, the votes for PKB party and its candidates in Yapen 2, Anotaurei District, were 904,” said the Petitioner’s legal counsel Subani at the panel courtroom in the Court’s second building on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

The Petitioner alleges there was a difference in the seats for PKB and its legislative candidates in the electoral district of Yapen 2 in Yapen Regency. Based on the C result form, PKB received 820 votes, while the district D result form shows that PKB received 869. The Petitioner believes PKB’s votes in Yapen 2, Anotaurei District were supposed to be 904.

Other parties also saw reduction in their votes and inflation to the other parties. Due to reduction and addition of votes for all of the parties in Yapen 2, the accumulation of all votes in the electoral district could change the seats for several parties.

In the petitum, the Petitioner requests the Court to annul the General Elections Commission (KPU) Decree No. 360 of 2024 on the certification of the 2024 legislative election results of the DPR (House of Representatives), DPD (Regional Representatives Council), and Provincial and Regency/City DPRD (Regional Legislative Council) announced nationally on March 20, 2024 for the electoral district of Yapen 2 in Anotaurei District for the Yapen Regency DPRD election. It also requests the Court to certify its version of the accurate vote acquisition for Yapen Regency DPRD election in Yapen 2 in Anotaurei District, with 904 votes for PKB.

The case No. 154-01-01-33/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 was heard in Panel 2, presided over by Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra and Constitutional Justices Ridwan Mansyur and Arsul Sani.
