JAKARTA (MKRI) — Faisal Amri has filed a dispute on the election results for members of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) of North Sumatra Province to the Constitutional Court (MK). Chief Justice Suhartoyo chaired over the panel with Constitutional Justices Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh and M. Guntur Hamzah for the preliminary hearing of case No. 04-02/PHPU.DPD-XXII/2024 on Thursday, May 5, 2024.

Legal counsel Muhammad Habibi emphasized that the Petitioner had objected to the General Elections Commission (KPU) Decree No. 360 of 2024 on the certification for the valid vote acquisition of the North Sumatra Provincial Representatives Council (DPD).

“The vote count results were based on hierarchical recapitulation, including 20 subdistricts in South Nias Regency with 95,907 valid votes,” he informed Chief Justice Suhartoyo.

He claimed the Respondent had inflated 14,638 valid votes for Candidate Number 4 Badikenita Br Sitepu from 539,114 to 553,752. Thus, the Petitioner should have ranked fourth with 546,936 votes.

“If the Court disagrees, to ensure vote integrity and uphold fairness, [we appeal to the Court] to order a recount or revote at all polling stations (TPS) in the 20 subdistricts of South Nias Regency: Lahusa, Hibala, Pulau-Pulau Batu, Teluk Dalam, Susua, Maniamolo, Toma, Mazino, East Pulau-Pulau Batu, Mazo, Ulunoyo, O'O'U, Sidua'ori, Boronadu, North Pulau-Pulau Batu, Tanah Masa, Luahagundre Maniamolo, Onolalu, Ulu Idanotae, and Idanota along with all of the consequences,” he emphasized.
