Democrat Candidates Fight over Vote Inflation in Serdang Bedagai 4

JAKARTA, (MKRI) - Democratic Party legislative candidate for Serdang Bedagai 4 electoral district, Enita Zahara, has filed a petition for the Dispute over the General Election Results (PHPU) 2024 to the Constitutional Court (MK). The petitioner disputes the vote acquisition with another Democratic Party candidate, Suka Dame Julius Saragih.

Juhari, acting as the legal counsel for Case No. 164-02-14-02/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024, mentioned a discrepancy of 13 votes between the petitioner and Suka Dame Julius Saragih. Suka Dame Julius Saragih obtained 2,879 votes, while the petitioner received 2,866 votes.

“The correct valid vote acquisition for Ernita Zahara, according to the respondent, is 2,866, according to the petitioner, 2,956 votes. A reduction of 90 votes. Meanwhile, Suka Dame Julius, according to the respondent, 2,879, according to the petitioner, 2,763. The discrepancy resulted in an addition of 116 votes,” He explained before the Panel of Justices led by Chief Justice Suhartoyo, with Constitutional Justices Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh and M. Guntur Hamzah.

He reported that the respondent added 116 valid votes for Suka Dame Julius Saragih across several subdistricts: 34 in Silinda, 20 each in Dolok Masihul and Serba Jadi, 19 in Bintang Bayu, 18 in Kotari, and 16 in Pispis.

The respondent reduced 90 valid votes for legislative candidate Ernita Zahara across several subdistricts: 16 votes in Silinda, 15 votes  in Dolok Masihul, 16 votes in  Serba Jadi, 15 votes in Bintang Bayu, 14 votes in Kotari, and 14 votes in Pispis.

In the petitum, The petitioner asked the Court to certify the correct vote counts for Serdang Bedagai Regency House of Representatives (DPRD) in Serdang Bedagai 4, with Suka Dame Julius Saragih receiving 2,763 votes and Ernita Zahara receiving 2,956 votes.
