JAKARTA (MKRI) — The United Development Party (PPP) has filed a petition over the 2024 DPR/DPRD (House of Representatives/Regional Legislative Council) election results to the Constitutional Court (MK). The preliminary hearing for case No. 252-01-17-31/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 took place on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, presided over by panel 2—Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra and Constitutional Justices Ridwan Mansyur and Arsul Sani.
Based on the General Elections Commission (KPU) Decree No. 360 of 2024 on the certification of the 2024 nationwide presidential and legislative election results (Provincial/Regency/City DPR, DPD, DPRD) announced on March 20, 2024 at 21:30 WIB, the total valid votes of political parties contesting for the DPRD (Regional Legislative Council) of Central Maluku Regency for the electoral district of Central Maluku 3 were 32,893; the Petitioner received 2,617 votes while the Party of Functional Groups (Golkar) had 2,677. The 60 margin between the two greatly affected the position for six seats in the Central Maluku Regency DPRD.
The Petitioner’s legal counsel M. Ridwan Pene explained the issues questioned by the Petitioner. Golkar, it alleges, has the addition of 1,532 in Telutih Subdistrict, while the Petitioner’s votes were purged by 81 votes in TPS 04 Teluti Baru Village, Tehoru Subdistrict. The regency’s Bawaslu’s recommendation and recommendation of special incidents and/or KPU witnesses’ objections were also not followed up.
“The Petitioner appeals to the Court to order the KPU to hold a recount at the polling stations numer 01, 04, and 05 of Yaputih Village, Telutih Subdistrict, Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province for the election of the regency/city DPRD,” said legal counsel Abdul Basir before the constitutional justices in panel 2.
