JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) held a preliminary hearing for the election results disputes (PHPU) of the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) of Aceh Province in electoral district (Dapil) of Aceh 5 on case No. 45-02-04-01/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 in panel 3, Tuesday afternoon (30/04/2024). The hearing was presided over by the Constitutional Justices Arief Hidayat (panel chair), Anwar Usman, and Enny Nurbaningsih.

The petitioner for this case is T. Muhammad Isa Aziz, an individual candidate Number 2 for the DPRD of Aceh Province from the Party of Functional Groups (Golkar) in Aceh 5.

Legal counsel Irwansyah Putra argued that there was a reduction in the Petitioner's votes by 1,331 votes. The Petitioner claimed that his votes should be 6,795. Meanwhile, the Respondent certified that the Petitioner's vote was only 5,464 votes.

"The Petitioner suffered a reduction of 1,331 votes. According to the Petitioner, the Petitioner's vote should be 6,795 votes, but the Respondent certified 5,464 votes," he said.

The Petitioner claims that the margin occurred because the Respondent had added and/or reduced his votes in the Sub-districts of Banda Baro, Tanag Jambo Aye, Lapang, Seunuddon, and Meurah Muliah. The Respondent also reduced the votes of the Golkar Party by 180 votes.

Thus, he requests that the Court grant his petition in its entirety, cancel the KPU Decree No. 360 of 2024, and certify his version of the vote acquisition results.
