JAKARTA (MKRI) — Elza Galan Zen, a legislative candidate from the Great Movement Party (Gerindra), has filed a petition over the 2024 DPRD (Regional Legislative Council) election results dispute (PHPU) for West Java electoral district I. The preliminary hearing for case No. 157-02-02-12/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 was held by the Constitutional Court (MK) on Tuesday, April 4, 2024 in the plenary courtroom. The session was presided over by Chief Justice Suhartoyo (panel chair) and Constitutional Justices Daniel Yusmic and M. Guntur Hamzah.

Present at the hearing without any legal counsel, the Petitioner stated that she had objected to the General Elections Commission (KPU) announcement on the election results on February 15, 2024 as cited by detik.com. The results displayed by the KPU were a real count with the top seven rankings.

“At that time, only 4% was inputted with a total of 4,928 votes. Meanwhile, in the attachment to the KPU Decree No. 360 of 2024, my vote acquisition when 4% was reached was 4,928 votes, but why at the end it was 2,613? That’s all my complaint, Your Honors,” she said.

Therefore, in her petitum, the Petitioner requests the Court to provide legal protection to her by omitting the vote acquisition data and to uphold the data inputted before chaos caused by changes as the reliable reference.
