JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) held a preliminary hearing for Case No. 281-02-14-36/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 on Monday afternoon, April 29, 2024. The case was filed by Bartolimeus Mirip, a DPRD candidate number 2 from the Democratic Party, who alleges vote manipulation in the vote count in the electoral district (dapil) of Central Papua 2, Central Papua Province.
At the preliminary hearing presided over by Constitutional Justices Arief Hidayat (panel chair), Anwar Usman, and Enny Nurbaningsih, the Petitioner through his legal counsel claimed to have evidence of 24,870 votes. However, the official results by the General Election Commission (KPU) showed that the votes were zero.
“The Respondent stated that the Petitioner’s vote was zero, it should have been 24,870 votes,” said legal counsel Sahlan Adiputra Alboneh.
The Petitioner alleges that the vote loss in the three districts, which was equivalent to his version, was caused by fraudulent actions by members of the district election committees (PPD) and the polling committees (PPS).
Furthermore, he alleges that the votes were transferred to other candidates, but he did not know who.
For this reason, he requests that the Court grant his petition in its entirety, cancel the KPU Decree No. 360 of 2024, and certify his version of the vote acquisition results.
