Court Optimistic in Settling Presidential Election Disputes Within 14 Workdays

JAKARTA (MKRI) — On Thursday morning, March 21, 2024, the Constitutional Court (MK) received the presidential election results dispute petition by presidential and vice presidential candidates number one Anies Rasyid Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN). In response to the petition, Chief Justice Suhartoyo expressed optimism during an interview with media personnel in the Media Center Room of Court, stating that the Constitutional Court is confident in its ability to resolve the case within the time frame prescribed by law.

"Of course, the Court remains optimistic and is committed to handling this presidential election case with utmost diligence. Regarding the petition to be addressed, two days will be allocated for the petitioner's submission, followed by the subsequent day dedicated to morning and afternoon sessions for hearing statements and responses from the respondents, including the General Elections Commission (KPU), The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), and other related parties. Following that, there will be a four-day period allocated for the presentation of evidence for each party involved. Subsequently, e-BRPK is registered for a two-day summons.”  This process will span a total of 10 days, with the remaining time dedicated to the Justices deliberation and Decision, explained Chief Justice Suhartoyo, who also personally oversaw the preparedness of the taskforce team for Supporting the Handling of Cases on Disputes over General Election Results in 2024 in Building 1 and Building 2 of the Constitutional Court.

For information, Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidate Number one Anies Rasyid Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN) has filed a petition on presidential election results dispute to the Constitutional Court (MK). The legal team and the AMIN National Campaign Team convened at Building 3 of the Constitutional Court on Thursday morning, March 21, 2024 to complete documents, which had been previously submitted online. The petition filed by the AMIN Pair was registered with the petition filing certificate (APPP) No. 01-01/AP3-PRES/Pan.MK/03/2024.

"In the evening, at 22:27 WIB, the Constitutional Court received the first submission for Dispute over the General Election Results of Members of the House of Representatives and Members of the Regional House of Representatives in 2024 (PHPileg). Nurmiati La Abusaleh from the National Mandate Party filed petition concerning the election results of Legislative election petition for Central Maluku 3 of Maluku Province, as recorded by the APPP No. 01-02-12-31/AP3-DPR-DPRD/Pan.MK/03/2024.
