JAKARTA (MKRI) — Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra officially opened the submission of petitions on disputes over general election results at the same time as the announcement of the recapitulation of the 2024 national election vote count results by General Elections Commission (KPU) Commissioner Hasyim Asy’ari and his staff. He also stated that the filing of petitions on disputes over the results of the election of legislative members of the 2024 election is starting on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 22:19 WIB.
In his remarks, Justice Saldi revealed that the registration of disputes over legislative election results would span 3x24 hours since the announcement of the vote results of the election of DPR (House of Representatives), DPD (Regional Representatives Council), and DPRD (Regional Legislative Council) members nationally by the KPU. This is stipulated in Constitutional Court Regulation (PMK) No. 5 of 2023 concerning Stages, Activities, and Schedules for Handling Cases on Disputes over the Results of the Election of DPR, DPD, DPRD, and the Presidential Election.
“The announcement of the recapitulation of the election of members of DPR; provincial and regency/city DPRDs, and DPD nationally at 22:19 WIB means that political parties participating in the election—including legislative members who want to file a petition—can file a dispute petition to the Constitutional Court with a deadline of 3x24 hours,” he said.
Justice Saldi also explained that the presidential election petitions will be counted since 00:01 WIB. So, the petition should be submitted no later than 3 (three) days after the certification of the presidential election results as stated in PMK No. 5 of 2023.
“The registration of presidential election dispute petitions will start one day after the certification by the KPU. This means that starting tonight at 00:01 WIB, [it] will start. Thus, the Constitutional Court will officially open registration for those who will file an election dispute,” Justice Saldi said in front of the Media Center at the first building of the Constitutional Court on Wednesday evening, March 20.
After closely reviewing the results of the recapitulation alongside Secretary-General Heru Setiawan, heads of bureaus and centers, Justice Saldi ensured that all the apparatuses on petition filing prepared by the Court in buildings 1, 2, and 3 of the Court are ready to provide excellent services for the parties. In addition, members of the 2024 election results dispute task force has been providing consultation for election participants on filing petitions to the Constitutional Court since the afternoon.
