JAKARTA (MKRI) — The task force for the handling of the 2024 election dispute cases (PHPU) took an oath before Chief Justice Suhartoyo on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at the courtyard of the Court’s Building 2 of the Constitutional Court (MK) second building in Jakarta. He said this inauguration was a symbol of the Court’s commitment to carry out the mandated authority to examine and adjudicate the presidential election dispute and the legislative election of members of the House of Representatives (DPR), the Provincial and Regency/City Legislative Councils (DPRD), and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) of 2024.

“We will be ready and will start accepting petitions for the presidential election disputes or legislative election disputes,” Chief Justice Suhartoyo declared at the inauguration of 783 members of the task force.

The task force will start carrying out its duties after the General Elections Commission (KPU) announced the national results of the 2024 general election, scheduled for March 20, 2024. Shortly after the announcement, the Court will be ready to receive petitions for the presidential and legislative election results disputes (PHPU) over the KPU’s decrees on the national results of the vote recapitulation.

Chief Justice Suhartoyo reminded the task force to fully commit to their task and uphold credibility, integrity, and professionalism. They must also uphold the Court’s institutional dignity in carrying out this constitutional duty. He reminded them to work to the best of their abilities following various training and simulations conducted some time ago.

He also said that the constitutional justices hope for the support of the entire staff, from the secretary-general to the security personnel, to resolve the 2024 election results disputes thoroughly and well. He prayed that the task force will always be granted good health.

“Hopefully, we will always be granted good health and opportunities to successfully complete our tasks, and subsequently, provide a sense of justice for those seeking justice in presidential and legislative election results disputes,” he said.

The inauguration and swearing-in were based on the Decree of the Secretary-General of the Constitutional Court No. 141 of 2024 concerning the task force for the resolution of the 2024 election results dispute (PHPU) within the Constitutional Court. The persons-in-charge for the task force are Secretary-General Heru Setiawan, Chief Registrar Muhidin, Constitutional Court Ethics Council (MKMK) chairman I Dewa Gede Palguna, and Ethics Council member Yuliandri. The task force is divided into divisions including case registration administration; case file administration; first, second, and third panels; registrar administration; transcription administration; public relations, publication, and case information internationalization; facilities, infrastructure, and household affairs; planning and finances; information and communication technology; oversight; human resources, oath officer, and health/medical; as well as security and safety.
