JAKARTA (MKRI) — Secretary-General Heru Setiawan and Chief Registrar Muhidin, along with structural and functional officials within the Registrar’s Office and the Secretariat-General of the Constitutional Court (MK), welcomed officials of the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at a meeting room in the Constitutional Court’s main building. At the meeting, Muhidin said that the Constitutional Court was waiting for the election results from the KPU. Thus, it needs the latest information concerning the progress of the vote count recapitulation by the KPU. He also said that progress information is essential because the Constitutional Court must synchronize the date of petition receipt for general election results dispute (PHPU) cases.

Muhidin explained that the legislative election dispute cases will be accepted by the Court within three times 24 hours after the KPU announces the national vote results. Meanwhile, for the presidential election dispute cases, the Court will start accepting petitions within three days after the KPU announces the results of the national vote count recapitulation.

Muhidin also stated that, with the current condition, the PHPU cases handling process will be delayed by the Eid al-Fitr collective leave. Other than that, the Court needs recapitulation data, which will be the dispute object. Muhidin added that the Court also needs information about whether the KPU will announce the parties that pass the parliamentary threshold or not.

After that, Heru Setiawan stated that the Court will provide room facilities for the KPU and the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), including internet connection.

Meanwhile, head of Advocacy and Legal Opinion of the KPU Advocacy Bureau Riskina Susanti explained that currently the vote count recapitulation process has been ongoing for 4 provinces—West Java, Maluku, Papua, and Papua Pegunungan—so the KPU cannot ensure when it will announce the certification of the national vote count recapitulation results. However, it will submit information on the progress of the vote count recapitulation, which will be a guideline for the Court to calculate the period for PHPU case registration.
