JAKARTA (MKRI) — Constitutional Justice Arsul Sani received a visit from the Indonesian Corporate Counsel Association (ICCA) and Hukumonline on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in Meeting Room 10th Floor of MK Building One. Arsul was accompanied by the Head of Research and Case Review, Pan Mohamad Faiz, the Head of Legal and Registrar Administration Bureau, Fajar Laksono, and the Head of Public Relations and Home Affairs, Andi Hakim, as well as PR staff. Meanwhile, the ICCA was represented by its President, Yudhistira Setiawan, and HukumOnline by the Chief Media & Engagement Office, Amrie Hakim, and the team.

In this visit, ICCA planned to invite Constitutional Justice Arsul Sani as a keynote speaker during the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Members of ICCA, which invites all members of ICCA on March 22, 2024. Moreover, ICCA and Hukumonline intended to deepen their cooperation with MK in various beneficial aspects, especially cooperation on Hukumonline educative class with Pancasila and Constitution Education Center (Pusdik MK) or to study MK decisions regarding corporate and business.

“Our visit is to ask Pak Arsul's availability for the Keynote Speaker, Insya Allah, on March 22; we will have an Extraordinary General Meeting to change the ICCA head and board, but before that, we will have a discussion and sharing session,” Yudhistira said.

Responding to that, Arsul Sani expressed his support for cooperation in sharing sessions with the in-house counsel, who is yet to understand MK. “I support the event. However, the date is simultaneous with the PHPU case registration for presidential and legislative elections,” Arsul replied.

Furthermore, Arsul added, regarding out-house events, the Justice must report to the Chief Justice and Justice Deliberation Meeting (RPH). It is part of implementing the Sapta Karsa Hutama principle, the ethics code and conduct of Constitutional Justice, which includes impartiality, integrity, proficiency and accuracy, equality, independence, modesty, and politeness.

“[It] differs from when in Parliament. Since becoming Constitutional Justice, there have been ethics, namely Sapta Karsa Utama principles. So, this activity is outside constitutional justice duty. I need to ask permission from the Chief Justice and approval from the Chief Justice since it will be during the PHPU case submission period,” Arsul added.

The Head of Research and Case Review, Pan Mohamad Faiz, known as Faiz at this time, said that in-house corporations have yet to learn constitutional education. Law and business issues are more common in MK, and it could serve as part of added experience, knowledge, and capacity for in-house.

Nonetheless, the Head of Legal and Registrar’s Administration, Fajar Laksono, proposed a cooperation. For him, Hukumonline might collaborate on the material regarding MK dissemination, and ICCA might learn MK procedural law with the Pancasila and Constitution Education Center in Cisarua, Bogor.
