JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) held a simulation of the resolution of the 2024 general election results dispute (PHPU) cases for staffers within its PHPU taskforce at the hall of the main building on Monday, January 8, 2024. In his remarks, Chief Justice Suhartoyo said that the simulation served as the Court’s preparation for the 2024 simultaneous election as a trusted and modern judicial institution.

“So that what we wish for and what the public hopes from the Court can be realized in a just, trustworthy, and modern judicial institution, which is the Court’s vision and mission,” the chief justice said while opening the event.

He hoped that the Court staffers would perform better than they did in past PHPU processes. He also hoped that the prepared infrastructure would help the staffers do their duties and functions to support the 2024 PHPU optimally.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General Heru Setiawan said that after the simulation, the evaluation of it would be reported at a work meeting to realize an ideal taskforce. Necessary infrastructure, technology, and facilities for the PHPU had been prepared for the simulation.

“Of course, we need inputs from all members of the teams. We have prepared all infrastructure and facilities for the PHPU. This week’s simulation is an important part of the evaluation, which will be reported at a work meeting,” Heru said.

Chief registrar Muhidin also hoped that the participating staffers would provide inputs, ideas, and solutions. Meanwhile, senior deputy registrar Triyono Edy Budhiarto said that the simulation would simulate the pre-registration stage, consisting of petition filing, documents checking, and registration.

The simulation participants received direction from the case registration administration coordinator for the first panel, Triyono Edy Budhiarto. They simulated the moment a petitioner comes to the Court, be asked to show their ID, takes a filing queue number (NUP), submits documents, and files their petition at the registration desk. Following the Constitutional Court Regulation (PMK) No. 5 of 2023, the Court is scheduled to start accepting legislative election results dispute petitions on February 15 to March 20.
