JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) celebrated the 95th Mother’s Day at the courtyard of its second building in Jakarta on Friday morning, December 22, 2023. Secretary-General Heru Setiawan, echelon officials, and all of the Court’s staffers attended the ceremony. Inspector Kurniasih Panti Rahayu led the ceremony.

This year’s celebration of the national Mother’s Day used the theme “Empowered Women in Advanced Indonesia”. The theme was, first, a statement of acknowledgement of Indonesian women’s struggle thus far: that the progress that we enjoy today cannot be separated from the contribution of empowered women. Second, it serves as hope and encouragement, that in order to realize Indonesia that continues to progress, empowered women are a necessity. In fact, women have the right and obligation to rise, grow, and develop.

A short history of the national Mother’s Day was read out at the ceremony, then Ayu read out the speech of the Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawanti.

Ayu said that the Mother’s Day commemoration reminded women not only to assert their existence but also to show their powers in advancing the nation by continuously contributing to Indonesia’s development.

“The commemoration of the Mother’s Day in Indonesia is an important moment in acknowledging and recognizing all Indonesian women for their roles, dedication, and contributions to their families, communicates, nation, and state. Wouldn’t justice, welfare, and peace that we longed for not be achieved without women’s participation?” she said while reading the Minister’s speech.

The annual commemoration of the Mother’s Day was expected to urge all stakeholders and the wider community to give attention and to recognize the importance of women in all sectors of development.

“Through the commemoration of the 95th Mother’s Day in 2023, I hope Indonesian women can continue building their capacity, competencies, and achievements and to speak up to determine the direction of the state’s policies and objectives. Indonesian women must also unite, help, and inspire each other. Now is the time for women to contribute in the nation’s development through their roles and work. With women, let us achieve Golden Indonesia 2045,” Ayu concluded.
