JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) received a Central Information Commission (KIP) Award of 2023 in the ‘informative’ category for non-ministry state and government agencies. The award was conferred by KIP chairman Donny Yoesgiantoro in person to Secretary-General Heru Setiawan on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

In his remarks, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin said public information transparency is an important part in promoting good governance. “I believe public information transparency to be an essential element in promoting good governance and one of the determinants of the success of bureaucratic reform programs. In addition, I believe information transparency is the way to nurture democracy, whose ultimate goal is to improve the welfare of the people,” he said.

He also talked about the increasingly common leaks of personal data, a serious issue for the Government.

“Lately, there have been data leaks in several public agencies, which is a serious issue of concern to us all. The urgency of personal data protection is higher because personal data is very vulnerable to misuse for unauthorized purposes. In addition to this, efforts to equalize public information services continue to be made by the Government through the development of information and communication technology infrastructure throughout the country,” he concluded.

In 2023, 139 public institutions entered the ‘informative’ category. In 2020, the Constitutional Court scored 82.09 in the ‘nearly-informative’ category. In 2023, it received a score of 90.24 within the ‘informative’ category. ‘Informative’ institutions score between 90 and 100; ‘nearly-informative’ ones at 80-89.9, ‘fairly informative’ at 60-79.9, ‘less informative’ at 40-59.9, while ‘not informative’ ones score under 39.9. There were still public institutions that scored under 10, even 0.
