JAKARTA (MKRI) — The State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Curup Bengkulu held an audience with the Constitutional Court (MK) on Monday, November 20, 2023. Their delegation was welcomed by acting head of Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Budi Wijayanto, head of the National Affairs and Institutional Relations Division Yossy Adriva, and head of the Public Relations Division Mutia Fria Darsini at the meeting room on the second floor of the Court’s second building. Vice rector II Muhammad Istan, dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Economics Ngadri Yusro, and three lecturers from IAIN Curup were also in attendance.
Muhammad Istan conveyed that the aim and purpose of the visit to the Court was to establish cooperation with the Court.
“Thank you for the good reception by the Constitutional Court and indeed this memorandum of understanding is in line with the principles of IAIN to establish cooperation and improve the quality of higher education, especially in law,” he said.
Istan hoped that the cooperation would be running well, not only in education and training for students, but also educating the public about the citizens’ constitutional rights.
In response, Budi Wijayanto stated that the Court and IAIN Curup can developed collaboration in various activities. “We hope that the cooperation agreement to be signed will not simply be a sleeping MoU, and that activities must be carried out after the signing to further implement the MoU in the form of academic studies, discussion forums, seminars, and public lectures on law, Pancasila, and the Constitution, as well as other work programs. These initiatives will be defined in further detail in the cooperation agreement (PKS),” he said.
Budi further stated that the MoU can be signed in three ways: desk-to-desk, via Zoom, or offline, but given the Constitutional Court’s current focus on the general election results disputes (PHPU), it is possible to hold the signing desk-to-desk or through Zoom.
“For now, the Court is conducting a moratorium on internship and visits because it is preparing to handle PHPU cases,” Budi stressed.
