JAKARTA (MKRI) — To prepare the task force to settle the 2024 general election results disputes (PHPU), the Constitutional Court (MK) held a workshop on the preparation for the presidential-legislative election result disputes for prospective members of task force and/or staffers in 2023 on Thursday, November 16, 2023 in Bogor. This workshop was officially opened by Chief Justice Suhartoyo, with Chief Registrar Muhidin, head of the Legal Affairs and Registrar Administration Bureau Fajar Laksono, and other Court officials were in attendance.

In front of 366 staffers, Chief Justice Suhartoyo stood in the podium to welcome the big national agenda in his capacity as chief justice and invited the workshop participants to work together to synergize their performance to complete the constitutional mandate of handling the 2024 PHPU cases. Chief Justice Suhartoyo emphasized that 2024 will be a crucial moment for the Constitutional Court, and a tough situation in resolving disputes over election results. Success in resolving these disputes will be a momentum for the Court to regain public trust.

“I believe that our experience in preparing previous task forces is sufficient to prepare the PHPU task force of 2024, so that it is much better than before. The remaining time must be used efficiently to increase the technical capacity of election preparation, mitigate shortcomings, problems, and obstacles. All of these issues are supposed to be resolved through good, strong, and honest teamwork,” he said before all participants.

This workshop will last for three days from Thursday to Saturday, November 16-18, 2023 in Bogor, West Java Province. The participants will listen to presentations on evaluation and important notes from the 2019 PHPU. They will also receive guidelines for performance improvement through the presentation “The Ethics and Work Culture of Judicial Bureaucracy” by Jimly Asshiddiqie, “The Outline of Support Policy for Handling Simultaneous PHPU Cases in 2024” by Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra, and “The Overview of Support for Simultaneous PHPU Case Handling of 2024 in the Judicial Field” by the task force coordinators.
