PADANG (MKRI) — Padjajaran University won first place in the national moot court competition for the Chief Justice Cup 2023. This competition was a series of the Constitution Olympiad and the result of cooperation between the Constitutional Court (MK) and the Law Faculty of Andalas University (Unand).

Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra gave a keynote speech while closing the competition on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the multipurpose hall of the Law Faculty of Unand in Padang, West Sumatra Province. He said that the moot court competition was very similar to the hearing process in the Constitutional Court.

“This afternoon I saw that the judges’ appearance surpassed that of constitutional justices, and I noticed that the presenters, representatives of the House of Representatives, representatives of the Government or the President and experts were truly like experts in the Constitutional Court,” he said.

He revealed that what happened in the moot court competition was an illustration of how the Court hearings proceed. He also said that the competition was an important moment that might repeat next year although with different participants. He also thanked the committee from both the Law Faculty of Unand and the Constitutional Court.

Previously, in his speech, Unand rector Yuliandri expressed his gratitude to the Court for making it possible for the competition to be held for the first time at Unand. He hoped that Unand could still be trusted to hold the Court’s Constitution Olympiad in the following years.
