BOGOR (MKRI) — In order to reduce and anticipate occupational safety and health risks, the Constitutional Court (MK) held a workshop to strengthen the implementation of occupational health and safety management system (SMK3) on Thursday, November 9, 2023 in Bogor, West Java. The event was attended by a number of employees of the Constitutional Court and officially opened by the head of the General Affairs Bureau Elisabeth.
In her opening remarks, Elisabeth said the event was carried out as an effort to create a healthy and safe working environment, which is in line with the mandate of Article 87 of Law No. 13 of 2003 on Manpower. It emphasizes the importance of controlling safety and health risks in the work environment by optimally implementing the occupational health and safety management system. In addition, the event was part of the implementation of Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012 on the application of occupational safety and health, which the Court carries out in an integrated and sustainable manner.
Elisabeth further said that the SMK3 was actually a sequel to one carried out in 2022, as well as part of the preparation of SMK3 SOPs in March 2023. The workshop was one of the Court’s concrete efforts in mitigating the risks of potential losses due to disasters that may occur at the office. Hopefully it will help create a healthy and safe working environment.
“It is the Constitutional Court’s effort to run and implement SMK3 with the hope that in the future it will increase the awareness of employees about SMK3 in order to minimize risks of disasters in the work environment. Also, hopefully it will become a tangible manifestation of the Court’s SMK3 movement through its policy by forming a task force as recommended by the DKI Jakarta Fire Mitigation and Rescue Office,” Elisabeth said.
The participants were presented with various knowledge give insight into the importance of understanding occupational safety and health management system in the Constitutional Court. In this three-day event scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, November 9-11, 2023, several speakers qualified in their fields explained many things related to occupational safety and health, including Wahyudin Lihawa from the Center for Assessment and Application of Occupational Health and Safety (CAAOHS) of Universitas Indonesia’s Public Health Faculty (FKM UI). He introduced the basics of occupational safety and health management system; occupational safety and health standards; the implementation and establishment of occupational safety and health organizational structure in work units in state institutions.
Rian Saksono, head of the DKI Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency, also attended the event and explained disaster risk reduction in office environment of state institutions.
Next, the participants were provided with a disaster risk reduction simulation in a state institution environment by the DKI Jakarta disaster mitigation team and the DKI Jakarta fire mitigation and rescue service team.
