JAKARTA (MKRI) — Acting head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau of the Constitutional Court (MK), Nudi Wijayanto, welcomed Dean of the Sharia Faculty of the Saifuddin Zuhri State Islamic University of Purwokerto (UIN Saizu) on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the Court’s second building.
Dean Supani said that the aim of the visit was to enhance cooperation with the Court in order to support the faculty’s programs, especially for the development of the constitutional law study program. “We hope this cooperation can support our academic program in the Sharia Faculty, especially the development of the constitutional law study program,” he said.
He also revealed that the Sharia Faculty really wanted a Constitutional Court laboratory and various academic developments as follow-up to the MoU.
In response, Budi Wijayanto said that this cooperation is the Court’s initiative to take a role in enhancing the citizens’ awareness of their constitutional rights through cooperation with universities. He said that the program would not only be public lectures but also various programs.
Budi explained that the Constitutional Court laboratory not only provides equipment, but also honorarium for its manager as well as an internet network for sustainability. As such, it is audited by the Audit Board (BPK) every year to monitor whether it is still active or not.
He emphasized that the most important thing is the activities post-MoU, because it is not only the duty of the campus but also the duty of the Constitutional Court. He revealed that currently there are many memoranda of understanding that are inactive, so he expected the two institutions to not only make an agreement but also do follow-ups. “This is also a concern for the Court, whether the cooperation is continued or not,” he added.
Meanwhile, head of the National Affairs Division Yossy Adriva explained that the smart board was originally provided based on the region’s needs in supporting the Court’s hearings. However, the Constitutional Court decided to expand its use for public lectures.
Yossy said that currently the smart board is also used for various activities to increase public understanding of the constitutional rights of citizens. She also observed that the location of UIN Saifuddin Zuhri is near the Jenderal Soedirman University, so when the latter has officially cooperated with the Constitutional Court, it can use the smart board as well. In this event, the first and second deputy deans Marwadi and Nita Triana were also in attendance.
