JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) received a visit from the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) on Monday, October 9, 2023 at the meeting room on the 11th floor of the Court’s main building. They were welcomed by head of the Center for Research, Case Review, and Library Management (Puslitka) Pan Mohamad Faiz, and head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Budi Wijayanto.
The Commission’s delegation consisted of the head of Planning, Internal Supervision, and Partnership Bureau Esrom Hamonangan and his staff members. They intended to learn the process and mechanism, the development blueprint, the work program and budgeting, as well as the promotion, product dissemination, and services of the Court’s publication and library teams.
Scope of Court’s PR
Budi Wijayanto explained the scope of the Public Relations Division, i.e. making press releases, publication of hearing and non-hearing activities, dissemination of decisions, media reporting services and mass-media cooperation, printing and providing publication materials, monitoring news analysis, the information and documentation center (PPID), and support for public relations and publications.
“The Public Relations Division have two media center and partnership administrators, one publication analyst, and one news analyst. Of course there are also contract-based government employees (PPPK) and non-civil servant government employees (PPNPN) who also assisted in publication tasks for hearing and non-hearing activities,” said Budi.
Budi also explained that the Court’s Public Relations Division has routine publication materials. “They are the Court’s monthly magazine and annual report, scheduled to be published at the beginning of each year,” he said.
High-Standard Library
In his remarks, Pan Mohamad Faiz said that the Court’s Puslitka had established a library that meets very high national standards (SNI) and received “A” accreditation (satisfactory) from the National Library of the Republic Indonesia (Perpusnas RI).
“In addition, we present an innovation by publishing hundreds of books by Court justices and employees. This could potentially make a record for the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) for state institution with the most books published in Indonesia. This is because many employees are very fond of writing, even one person can write 2-3 books every year,” he said.
Next, library coordinator Hanindyo explained that the requirements for accreditation are organizational management, spatial layout, collection, and budget. “When the assessment team came, the Court had completed everything. The National Library also mentioned that the Court must be prepared to be recommended as a reference library and prepare things such as testimonials from library users such as the constitutional justices. We also submitted all complete requirements to the National Library. Afterward, there will be an assessment every 2 years. If they Library make significant development, it could receive the “A plus” accreditation. To reach the next target, the Library will upgrade its facilities and improve its spatial arrangement and technology,” he added.
