BEKASI (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) held an evaluation meeting of the third-quarter budget of 2023 and the acceleration of 2023 activities and the fourth-quarter budget in Bekasi, West Java Province on Thursday evening, October 5, 2023. Before opening the meeting, Chief Justice Anwar Usman said in his opening remarks that the aim of this meeting was to review what is being, has been, and will be done related to budget management.
“The aim of this meeting is to review the existing budget to implement what is being and has been done. In addition, this event is also to account for every expenditure of state money,” he said.
He also said that since he became a constitutional justice, he had been impressed with the Court’s budget management because at the end of each year it always received WTP (unqualified) opinion. “This means that there are no flaws or gaps in the management and budget use by the Court from the time I entered the Court until today. Naturally, the Court received several awards. This has always made me proud of the Court. Of course, all of this is due to the support of officials related to budget management,” he explained.
Concluding his remarks, Chief Justice Anwar was very grateful and apologized to the participants for not being able to join it until the end. “This is because I still have an appointment to attend at the Center for Pancasila and Constitution Education. Hopefully this meeting will be able to evaluate all budget issues, so that everything can be resolved, including budget shortages in several units,” he concluded.
Previously, Secretary-General Heru Setiawan had delivered a report in that meeting. He said that the meeting was to evaluate the Court’s budget. “In addition, we will prepare for the new constitutional justices’ inauguration. We convene in this extremely significant meeting because we need to expedite the achievement of our target of 99% budget expenditure, which is currently at 69%,” he said.
Heru said that the Court has built a good system on budget management that can ensure that all commitment-making officials (PPK) know the remaining budget that must be spent by the end of the year.
The evaluation meeting was held on Thursday-Saturday, October 5-7, 2023 and followed by 66 participants in the Registrar’s Office and the Secretariat-General of the Constitutional Court.
