JAKARTA, MKRI — In commemoration of the Pancasila Sanctity Day on October 1, 2023, the Constitutional Court (MK) held a flag-hoisting ceremony in the courtyard of the second building on Monday, October 2, 2023. Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Budi Wijayanto led the ceremony, which was followed by all structural and functional officials and employees of the Constitutional Court.
The 2023 ceremony of Pancasila Sanctity Day was entitled “Pancasila as the nation’s unifier towards Advanced Indonesia,” which expressed the hope that the Indonesian people would be determined to maintain and practice the Pancasila values as a source of strength to mobilize togetherness to fight for, uphold, and defend the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
Remembering National Heroes
The Pancasila Sanctity Day commemoration aimed to remember the fallen heroes in the 30-September-Movement by the Communist Party of Indonesia (G30S PKI) and honor all heroes who died while exericisng their duty to protect Pancasila, as a reminder of the struggle of heroes in the effort to fortify Pancasila’s role as the basis of the state and the nation’s ideology, and to increase the sense of nationalism and patriotism that had begun to fade.
Pancasila Pledge
The Pancasila Pledge was read out as part of the ceremony every year. Below is the text of the Pancasila Sanctity pledge, as quoted from the 2023 guidelines released by the Ministry of Education and Culture:
By the grace of God Almighty, we who carry out this ceremony are fully aware:
that since the proclamation of the independence of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 1945, in reality, there have been many disturbances both from within the country and abroad to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia;
that the disturbances were made possible by the carelessness and lack of vigilance of the Indonesian people towards activities that seek to overthrow Pancasila as the state ideology;
that with the spirit of togetherness based on the noble values of the Pancasila ideology, the Indonesian nation can still safeguard the establishment of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
So, before the God Almighty, in commemorating Pancasila Sanctity Day, we are determined to continuously maintain and practice the values of Pancasila as a source of strength, to unite together to fight for and uphold truth and justice for the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
