National Library Has Audience with Constitutional Court

JAKARTA (MKRI) — The head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpusnas) Muhammad Syarif Bando and other officials had an audience with the Constitutional Court (MK) on Thursday, September 21, 2023. They were welcomed by Chief Justice Anwar Usman, Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Ira, Secretary-General Heru Setiawan, and head of the Center for Research, Case Review, and Library Management (Puslitka) Pan Mohamad Faiz in a meeting in the Court’s main building.

In his opening remarks, Syarif conveyed that the National Library wished to award the Court with Nugra Jasa Dharma Pustaloka for its support and dedication to instill the love of reading and writing in its employees. He said that based on data from the Library’s Bibliographic Center for Library Material Management, the Court had published a total of 1,172 works, including 1,028 monographs, 99 images, 21 periodicals, 18 electronic sources, 5 microforms, and 1 braille work.

Based on Article 51 paragraph (6) of Law No. 43 of 2007 on Library, the Constitutional Court is classified as a high state institution that had successfully acculturated the love of reading in the lifetime achievement category. “We are pleased to inform that the Court has received the Nugra Jasa Dharma Pustaloka award in the lifetime achievement category,” he said.

Chief Justice Anwar Usman welcomed the award with joy, pride, and gratitude. It was expected to further strengthen cooperation between the two institutions.

“Going forward, the cooperation between the Court and the National Library will not only be limited to the signing of periodic cooperation agreements, but also learning, which is eternal,” said Justice Anwar welcoming the award.

Secretary-General Heru Setiawan reaffirmed the long-standing collaboration with the National Library in various legal literacy events. He hoped that the Court and the National Library could cooperate in various major events, such as the launch of the Court’s books.

“The Court’s annual agenda, which is supported by the involvement of constitutional justices as authors, is expected to be held at the National Library in 2023, so that it can attract a lot of participants,” he said.
