JAKARTA (MKRI) — Secretary-General Heru Setiawan had an audience with the National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas). He and his staff were welcomed by head of the National Library Muhammad Syarif Bando on Monday, September 5 in a meeting room of Perpusnas on the 5th floor. The audience served to improve cooperation with the Constitutional Court in various aspects, especially book collection and research. In addition, the Court has received an award from the National Library.

“The National Library will confer an award to Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court because every year the Constitutional Court has regularly published books, which are the best works of the nation in constitutional law and should be placed in the National Library. In addition, there was an MoU between the two because the Court has a library for its literature. The Court is always standardized in the development of literacy,” Heru explained.

Furthermore, this meeting was an effort to educate the nation’s life, which is one of the constitutional mandates. The Court continues to innovate and be creative by involving stakeholders in collaboration and synergy to spread the love of reading and writing.

Head of the National Library Muhammad Syarif Bando express appreciation for the Court for having succeeded to improve literacy and reading habit effectively and innovatively through its library. In the future, the books published by the Court will be presented digitally to improve access for the public.

“As part of the effort to gain public’s trust, libraries are of importance, and one of the Constitutional Court’s strengths is that it publishes books actively. This meeting is to help the Court prepare digitization of its books. The number of books published by the Court is massive and structural, therefore, it is very reasonable for the Court to be given the highest library award, which is a lifetime achievement to become a role model for the highest institution in communicating and carrying out activities for the culture of reading and literacy in Indonesia,” Syarif said.
