JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) welcomed representatives of the National Law Development Agency (BPHN) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in the meeting room on the 2nd floor the Court’s second building on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. The BPHN had an audience with the Court to plan a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on “Synergy for Legal Development in Creating a Legally Smart and Just Society.”
“This agreement aims to improve institutional relations and to synergize stakeholders’ potential in legal development for creating a legally smart and just society,” said head of BPHN’s Legal Counseling Center Kartiko Nurintias.
The agreement will include improving awareness of the law and the Constitution through workshops, discussions, and acculturation among various elements of society including advocates, paralegals, legal aid organizations, and village chiefs. Another scope of the agreement is providing assistance, advocacy, and legal and constitutional consultations for communities or community groups that are unable to fight for their legal rights and constitutional rights.
The scope of the agreement will also include dissemination, publication, and discussion of the Court’s decisions; improvement and development of the Court’s and BPHN’s human resources and exchange of personnel and/or experts; legal analyst training at the Court; exchange and utilization of data and/or information; and use of facilities and infrastructure to support the Court’s and BPHN’s activities. Kartiko hoped the MoU would be realized as soon as possible.
Acting head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Budi Wijayanto, head of the National Affairs Division Yossy Adriva, and their staff welcomed and appreciated the initiative. They hoped the MoU would be beneficial for both parties and the wider community.
“Hopefully by the end of August or early September it will be realized,” Budi said. (*)
