JAKARTA (MKRI) Cardiologist Dafsah Arifa Juzar reminded the Constitutional Court’s (MK) employees to be aware of any pressure-like pain on the chest and shoulders, which he asserted could be one of the indications of coronary heart disease.

“Be careful of any tightness in the chest, cold sweat, and dizziness that feels like a lack of oxygen. They could be signs of a coronary heart disease,” he said in a health seminar on coronary heart diseases on Monday, August 14, 2023.

The seminar was part of the celebration of the Court’s 20th anniversary, which fell on August 13. Aside from the seminar on “Preventing Sudden Heart Attack,” the Court also organized a blood donation and offered health screening and pap smear to the employees of the Registrar’s Office and the Secretariat-General of the Constitutional Court.

In his presentation, dr. Dafsah said tightness can happen when too much plaque builds up inside arteries, causing them to narrow.

“With the narrowing of the arteries, parts of the heart will not get enough blood and oxygen supply so its function will be reduced,” said the doctor at Heartology Brawijaya Hospital, Central Jakarta.

He also warned that any indications of coronary heart risks must be followed up by a healthier lifestyle and electrocardiogram (ECG) screening, which measures the heart’s electrical activity to determine risks. This way, any risk can be detected early.
