JAKARTA, (MKRI) — Chief Justice Anwar Usman led the swearing in of Heru Setiawan as secretary-general, a middle-rank high leadership position, at the Constitutional Court’s (MK) main hall on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. The minute for the event was signed by Heru before Chief Registrar Muhidin, BPKP’s (Financial and Development Supervisory Agency) Chief Secretary Ernadhi Sudarmanto, Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra, and six constitutional justices.

In his remarks, the chief justice said that the swearing in was not only a formality according to the law, but also a sacred oath before God, which took precedence before the promise made before the constitutional justices, guests, and staff members.

“This position is not eternal but limited. It can be ended or end at any time. In essence, it belongs to God. Today, God gave it to Mr. Heru Setiawan. First, I congratulate Mr. Heru Setiawan, who was just inaugurated and sworn in as the secretary-general of the Constitutional Court. This mandate is a blessing from God that one must be grateful for,” he said before Vice Chairman of the Civil Service Commission (KASN) Tasdik Kinanto and Deputy for National Unity of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Janedjri M. Gaffar.

After the inauguration, the Court’s officials and guests expressed their congratulations to the new secretary-general and his wife. Heru Setiawan was inaugurated to replace M. Guntur Hamzah, who became a constitutional justice on November 23, 2022. His inauguration was recorded in the Presidential Decree No. 55/TPA/2023 on the middle-rank high leadership position in the Registrar’s Office and the Secretariat-General of the Constitutional Court.
