JAKARTA, (MKRI) — On Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Court’s main bulding, Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra congratulated eight Constitutional Court (MK) staff members selected for upcoming Recharging Program 2023 at the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) in Arlington and William and Mary Law School in Williamsburg, which will take place for seven weeks starting June 5 until July 21. The participants first joined pre-departure sessions, which provided them with relevant information for the recharging on “Restructuring Constitutional Democracy.”
In his remarks, Deputy Chief Justice Saldi said to the fifth batch of the Court’s recharging program to study diligently under the NSCS, which is under direct supervision of the U.S. Supreme Court. He also hoped the participants would collaborate and engage in discussions in the classrooms during their study at the two institutions.
“These participants are the first batch of the collaborative program between the Court and the US and will be role models for both the Court and the institutions in the US. The eight participants will be reflection of the Constitutional Court. Hopefully these staff members will be able to catch up with the instructors who will provide materials in the classrooms by participating actively in discussions to explain the administration and legal systems in Indonesia. When they come back, hopefully there will be evaluation on the [program’s] strengths and weaknesses. Hopefully the program will continue four, five years ahead so that we can judge the Court’s changing needs of the knowledge [the US institutions] offer,” he said alongside Head of the AACC Permanent Secretariat and International Relations Department Sri Handayani, Head of the International Affairs Division Immanuel Bungkulan Binsar Hutasoit, and Head of the Human Resources Development Division Andi Hakim.
