JAKARTA (MKRI) — On the 21st day of Ramadan 1444 AH, officials and staff of the Constitutional Court (MK) held a donation to the orphaned children of late Court employees on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at the Court’s main building. Nineteen orphaned children out of 10 families received the donation, given away by Chief Justice Anwar Usman and Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra, in person, witnessed by Acting Secretary-General Heru Setiawan, the Secretary-General of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) Noor Sidharta, Director of BAZNAZ (National Zakat Board) Center of Strategic Studies (Puskas) Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, as well as the Court’s structural and functional officials.

In his remarks, Chief Justice Anwar Usman revealed the benefits of giving away to orphaned children, one being completing one’s prayers. “For the success of this important event, I’d like to thank the managers of the Court’s Islamic organization, who have performed God’s mandate well,” he said.

Meanwhile, in his report, Acting Secretary-General Heru Setiawan said that since its inception, the Court’s Islamic organization had carried out a lot of activities, such as Ramadan learning forum, fundraising during natural disasters, and donations for orphans.

Ramadan is the best moment for Muslims to give away to orphaned children, as they will receive multiple blessings. It will also clean our hearts. In Surah Al Baqarah: 220, Allah SWT stated, “Both in regard to this world and the Next. They question you (Muhammad) concerning orphans. Say: ‘To deal with them in the way which is to their good, that is best. And if you intermix with them, they are your brothers.” Allah knows the mischievous from the righteous, and had Allah willed, He would indeed have imposed on you exacting conditions; but He is All-Powerful, Most Wise.” The verse shows that giving away to orphaned children who are fasting is a great deed.
