Court Attends International Symposium on Rights and Liberties

BANGKOK (MKRI) — The delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) led by Constitutional Justice Suhartoyo attended an international symposium on “The Constitutional Court on the Protection of the People’s Rights and Liberties” on Monday, April 10, 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. The symposium coincided with the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Thailand and was attended by the Constitutional Courts such of Indonesia, Austria, Mongolia, Korea, and others.

It was opened by Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn and high officials of the Thai Government, as well as the Indonesian ambassador to Thailand Rachmat Budiman. In the first session, the President of the Thai parliament Chuan Leekpai stressed the importance of democracy. Next, in his presentation, the President of the Constitutional Court of Thailand Worawit Kangsasitiam said that one of the functions of the Constitutional Court is to protect the citizens’ rights and liberties.

The first session of the symposium ended with the conferring of tokens by the President of the Constitutional Court of Thailand to the delegations of other Constitutional Courts as well as a photo session.
