JAKARTA (MKRI) — Five representatives of Marsekal Suryadarma Aerospace University (Unsurya) visited the Constitutional Court (MK) on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. The delegation was welcomed by Head of the Public Relations and National Affairs Department Fajar Laksono and Head of the National Affairs Division Yossy Adriva at the Court’s conference room.

In his remarks, Head of Unsurya’s Center for Research and Community Services Johanes Dewanto said in order to support the Government’s Freedom to Learn: Independent Campus (Merdeka Belajar: Kampus Merdeka/MBKM) program, the university’s academics would like to partner with the Constitutional Court. The cooperation, he hoped, would help improve the university’s education quality based on the key performance indicators (IKU) of higher education in Indonesia.

Next, Head of Law Study Program Selamat Lumban Gaol added that the cooperation would allow constitutional justices to give public lectures at the university, the university’s students to visit the Court, and other collaborative academic activities. “Cooperation with state institutions is necessary to support the improvement of quality of education in the campus, including the Constitutional Court,” he said.

Fajar Laksono said the Court welcomed any cooperation and discussion with other institutions. He revealed that the Court had cooperated with over 100 public and private higher education institutions throughout the country as well as overseas.

“The Constitutional Court is a singular judicial institution located only in the [capital city], so it does not have any branches but the work area covers the entirety of Indonesia. One of the Court’s vision and mission since its foundation has been seriously placing its assets in video conferencing in the beginning, which has now been replaced by smart board mini courtrooms,” he said.

The Court has cooperated with many stakeholders with memoranda of understanding that cover various activities such as seminars and other academic forums. These events are expected to bring benefits to both the Court and its partners. The collaboration can be followed up by in-depth discussions on the substances, ceremonies, and logistics needed by both parties.
