JAKARTA (MKRI) — Expert assistant to constitutional justice Alboin Pasaribu welcomed around 130 students of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) of Bali at the Constitutional Court’s (MK) main hall on Monday, February 27, 2023. One of the accompanying law lecturers stated that the visit was to give the students some preparation for practical field work (KKL) in state institutions.

Pasaribu gave a presentation on “The Constitutional Court and the Protection of Citizens’ Constitutional Rights.” “The Court was given authority to rule cases with final decisions.”

He then explained the Court’s functions and responsibilities. He also elaborated on how to file petitions to the Court, which can be done online.

In the Q&A session, a student asked about the biggest case the Court had handled and what the decision was. Pasaribu answered that almost all cases are big and they have distinctive characteristics.

“The most public case is the presidential election dispute in 2019, where the Court once held a hearing for almost 24 hours. The Court has a rule where if the hearings are not finished yet, all employees must wait until they are,” he explained.

After the presentation and discussion, the students and lecturers were taken to the fifth and sixth floors of the Court’s main building to tour the Constitution History Center (Puskon).
