JAKARTA (MKRI) — One hundred and twenty students from SDN Krukut 3 Depok visited the Constitution History Center on the 5th and 6th floors of the Constitutional Court’s main building on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Expert assistant to constitutional justice Rizkisyabana Yulistyaputri, along with two librarians, Elling Masitoh and Lina Herlina, introduced the Court to the students.

“When was the Constitutional Court established?” Rizki asked the opening question to the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students so they would focus on the material. After the students focused, she began her presentation about the Court’s buildings. She also introduced the Court’s social media accounts, where students could learn a lot about the constitutional justices’ and the Court’s activities.

“With parental or sibling supervision, you can learn about the Constitutional Court through social media. The Constitutional Court has Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok accounts. And in 2023, the Constitutional Court, which was established on August 13, 2003, will be 20 years old,” she said.

Next, in simple terms, Rizki discussed the Court's authority as referred to in the Constitution. She compared the Court to a police officer that is tasked with securing the community, as the Court can also be called a law enforcement institution. This means, she added, through the constitutional justices, the Court is tasked with maintaining law and order to stay in accordance with the 1945 Constitution. She also introduced other jurisdiction of the Court and the sitting constitutional justices.

An interesting question came from a student: “If you want to work in the Constitutional Court, where do you go to college?” Rizki answered the question with a smile. “You can go to any university and study any major. But if you want to become a justice, you have to study a special undergraduate program in law, and for graduate and doctoral programs, it can be law or other disciplines. The most important thing now is that you must study diligently and seriously so that you can become a valuable person in the future,” Rizki advised.

Next, the students were taken on a tour of the 5th and 6th floors to explore the Constitution History Center (Puskon). Accompanied by Lina and Elling, the students introduced to the parts of the history center. The center was inaugurated on December 19, 2014 by President Joko Widodo. This center will take visitors to visit six zones—the pre-independence zone, the independence zone, the 1945 Constitution zone, the zone of the Constitution of the Republic of the United States of Indonesia (RIS), the zone of the Provisional Constitution of 1950, the zone of the Return to the 1945 Constitution, and the Reforms zone, and the Constitutional Court zone. “These zones show the journey of constitutional history in Indonesia until today,” said Lina as she guided the students through each zone.
