JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) welcomed students of Ruhul Ulum private islamic elementary school (MIS) in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon, February 14, 2023. The students wished to get to know the Court better.
The students were welcomed by the Head of the Research and Case Review Division Yuni Sandrawati in the Court’s main hall. She explained the Court’s authority and its role in the Indonesian administration.
The serious atmosphere instantly turned relaxed, casual, and cheerful when Sandra asked the young students a question, “Do you know what the Constitutional Court is?” “Yes,” they answered. Sandra smiled upon hearing their answer. “What is the Constitutional Court?” she asked again. “Well...,” the children answered.
Sandra then explained that Court is a judicial institution that upholds the law and justice. She also asked them about the constitutional justices. “How many justices are there in the Constitutional Court?” she asked.
The students enthusiastically answered that there are nine constitutional justices, eight men and one woman. “Eight fathers and one mother,” said one student.
Next, the students were invited to visit the Constitution History Center (Puskon) on the 5th and 6th floors of the Court’s main building. Senior librarian Hanindyo accompanied the students and provided a more detailed explanation of the parts of the center. He revealed that the center was inaugurated on December 19, 2014 by current President Joko Widodo. The students were taken to six zones—the pre-independence zone, the independence zone, the 1945 Constitution zone, the zone of the Constitution of the Republic of the United States of Indonesia (RIS), the zone of the Provisional Constitution of 1950, the zone of the Return to the 1945 Constitution, and the Reforms zone, and the Constitutional Court zone. “These zones show the journey of constitutional history in Indonesia until today,” said Hanindyo as he guided the students through each zone.
