BOGOR (MKRI) — The Pancasila and Constitution Education Center (Pusdik) of the Constitutional Court (MK) organized a Trainers Convention to prepare for the technical assistance program (bimtek) for the Resolution of Disputes over 2024 Election Results (PHPU) on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 in Bogor.

The event was officially opened by Chief Justice Anwar Usman, who revealed that the Court will soon be adjudicating some of the largest constitutional legitimacy issues in the country—disputes over the 2024 Election.

“We all realize that PHPU is an extraordinary event that impacts the historical journey of our nation and country in the future. As one of the largest democracies in the world, elections in Indonesia can be considered the most democratic, with various modern, institutional, and civilized mechanisms for organizing and resolving disputes,” he said.

The Trainers Convention, he said, was an important event that brought together prospective trainers, facilitators, and organizers of bimtek on PHPU 2024.

“This event is a good coordination platform between prospective trainers and facilitators in anticipation of the implementation of the upcoming bimtek on PHPU. In addition, it can also synchronize our ideas, interpretations, and understanding to achieve the goal of the bimtek optimally,” he added.

Anwar also said that the convention marked optimal preparation for all participants/target groups in the future. “The quality of future bimtek on PHPU is greatly influenced by how we design and build the bimtek, which is influenced by the quality of the trainers and facilitators,” he said.

Introducing Court’s New Regulation

Meanwhile, Constitutional Justices Suhartoyo and Saldi Isra delivered the Constitutional Court Regulation (PMK) on the PHPU of DPR and DPRD Election of 2024. Justice Suhartoyo said the Court regulations must be developed to anticipate PHPU of 2024. This statement was echoed by Justice Saldi Isra.

The Trainer Convention will be taking place from Wednesday to Saturday January 25-28, 2023. Substitute registrars and expert assistants to constitutional justices were in attendance. Constitutional justices, the KPU (General Elections Commission), Bawaslu (Elections Supervisory Body), and others will deliver presentations on the implementation and supervision of the 2024 General Election, the curriculum of bimtek on PHPU, the Court’s procedural law on PHPU, and the Court’s PMK No. 1 of 2022 on the stages and schedule of the general election.
