WASHINGTON, D.C. (MKRI) — The delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) led by Constitutional Justices Saldi Isra and M. Guntur Hamzah held a meeting with the Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, at the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Washington, D.C. on Friday, December 9, 2022.
At the meeting, Constitutional Justice Saldi Isra conveyed the results of a series of activities by the MKRI delegation in the United States regarding plans for cooperation and collaboration between the MKRI and the National Center for State Court (NCSC) and the William & Mary Law School. The basis for the cooperation was set forth in a memorandum of understanding, recently signed separately in the United States by acting Secretary-General Heru Setiawan and the NCSC and the William & Mary Law School.
The MKRI is planning to send its employees to the United States to take part in professional education and training in order to improve their scientific capacity and judicial experience in a recharging program organized by the NCSC. Ambassador Rosan expressed his support and the embassy’s willingness to help make the MKRI program successful.
“We understand that the Constitutional Court has a very important responsibility. The Indonesian Embassy in Washington is ready to assist the cooperation initiated by the Constitutional Court in the United States to improve the capacity of its staff members,” he said alongside deputy chief of mission (DCM) and officials at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, D.C.
The recharging program serves to improve the capacity and quality of the MKRI’s staff on an ongoing basis. The MKRI has held similar programs at The Hague University of Applied Science, the Netherlands. Starting next year, it will organize the program in the United States in collaboration with the NCSC and the William & Mary Law School. These two institutions have a good reputation and vast experience in conducting professional education and training programs, especially for judges and court staff in the United States and other countries.
