JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) officially launched the Computer Security Incident Response Team, a response team against cyberthreats for the Registrar’s Office and the Secretariat-General of the Constitutional Court on Wednesday morning, November 23, 2022 at the hall of the Constitutional Court in Jakarta. The Court collaborated with the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) in launching the team.

On behalf of the secretary-general, acting head of the Center for Information and Communication Technology (Pustik) Sigit Purnomo said in his remarks that modern judiciary serves to ensure that the people are not mistreated by the people in power. A rule of law demands that the state power be exercised in line with the Constitution and statutory legislation.

“The modern judiciary plays its role in ensuring quality and justice through legal instruments, advanced technology, and progressive human resources,” he said.

Sigit also said that the Constitutional Court was founded with the vision to become a modern and trusted judicial institution. Its activities are organized effectively and efficiently using information and communications technology based on progressive mindset to leave conventional technology.

Meanwhile, acting deputy of Cybersecurity and Signal Intelligence and Human Resource Development of the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) Hasto Prastowo said that social, economic, cultural, and judicial aspects of life have been impacted globalization, but the advances in ICT are directly proportional to the risks and threats to security. Therefore, data security cannot be undermined as cybersecurity is an important aspect in the management and utilization of ICT. The formation of the CSIRT is one of the BSSN’s concrete steps to ensure cybersecurity. “The BSSN formed an ecosystem through CSIRT,” he said.

The BSSN would also officially confer a registration form to the Constitutional Court and exchange tokens with the Court.

The CSIRT was established to support information and communication security management to support the modern and trusted judiciary. Hopefully it will facilitate the security of information and communication, prevent cybersecurity incidents, improve the awareness of cybersecurity among Court staff, and promote coordination and cooperation with relevant institutions for reliable cybersecurity.

CSIRT serves to provide warnings related to cybersecurity, handling cybersecurity incidents, notify potential threats, detect of cyberattacks, analyze cybersecurity risks, and provide consultation on handling cybersecurity incidents.
