JAKARTA (MKRI)—The Constitutional Court (MK) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) and Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) digitally on Monday afternoon, September 12, 2022, witnessed on-site and virtually by officials and staff members of the Court, BRI, and BSI.
Court’s Acting Head of the Finance Bureau Tatang Garjito signed the MoU with BRI’s Institutional Business Division Head M. Chandra Utama and BSI’s Head of Wealth Management Group Vita Andrianty.
“The memorandum of understanding is a legal basis for the Court, BRI, and BSI to [organize] activities on financial management, for example the treasury management in the Court for its officials and staff,” Tatang said.
Court Leadership’s Message
“[I would like to express] high appreciation and gratitude especially to the leaders of BRI and BSI, for our partnerships, especially in loan for the Court staff, salary management, treasury management, and so on, which until now has not had any problems,” Tatang added.
He also conveyed the message from the leaders of the Court that through the MoU, the Court would carry out accountable, transparent financial management with BRI and BSI.
Encouragement for BRI
Meanwhile, BRI’s Institutional Business Division Head M. Chandra Utama said that the Court-BRI MoU was an encouragement for BRI to develop so that it could be even better and provide the best services. Currently, he said, BRI is also digitizing in order to provide the best service for its customers.
“We have the BRIvolution 2.0 program, BRI’s grand vision to become The Most Valuable Banking Group in Southeast Asia & Champion of Financial Inclusion. The goal is to provide the best services, transforming all services in BRI to digital that focuses on creating efficiency. For example, to open an account, customers do not need to come to BRI office,” he explained.
Chandra hoped that the Court-BRI MoU can improve existing programs and encourage future ones. He also conveyed BRI’s commitment to providing swift, precise, accurate, comfortable, safe, and modern services so to improve customer trust.
Synergy
Meanwhile, Head of Wealth Management Group BSI Vita Andrianty revealed BSI took pride on the MoU, which signifies extraordinary trust from the Court. “Hopefully the MoU can form a synergy to develop both institutions and provide benefits,” she said.
She added that, thanks to the trust from customers and the government, BSI is currently the largest Islamic bank in Indonesia with 1,200 outlets spread throughout Indonesia. “BSI is has the seven largest assets supported by stakeholders. [BSI] carry a mandate to become a bank with the five largest assets in Indonesia by 2025,” she revealed.
She also said currently BSI allocates zakat on annual company profits. In 2021, it distributed Rp122 billion zakat. This serves as a benchmark for BSI so that, in addition to gain profits, it can distribute more zakat in the future.
