JAKARTA (MKRI)—The Constitutional Court (MK) held a ceremony to celebrate its 19th anniversary on Saturday morning, August 13, 2022 on-site from its second building. A number of staff members of the Registrar’s Office and Secretariat General of the Constitutional Court joined the ceremony on-site, while most attended it online. Chief Justice Anwar Usman and the other eight constitutional justices, Chief Registrar Muhidin, Secretary-General M. Guntur Hamzah, structural and functional officials, and guests attended it on-site.

As the leader of the ceremony, Justice Anwar Usman delivered his speech. He stated that the Constitutional Court would not be able to satisfy everyone and that debate would always follow, especially when it ruled on general and regional election results disputes as well as judicial review cases.

“Allegations and slander are thrown at [the Court], when it is known that slander is worse than murder, alfitnatu asyaddu minal qathli. There could be forces that interfered with [the Court] with any method, so that our fortitude would weaken. Therefore, let us build barriers so that such interference would not weaken our resolve, because we will account for everything before God Almighty,” he said.

Justice Anwar added that the 2024 Simultaneous Election had started. It will be different from the 2019 Election, because it will coincide with regional election throughout the country.

“The general and regional elections are not exactly simultaneous, but will take place in the same year. The simultaneous general election will take place on February 14, 2024, while the simultaneous regional election on November 27, 2024. As such, the resolution of both elections will follow,” he explained.

He also said that even though the separation of the two would potentially reduce the pile of cases, they would not be far apart. He urged everyone to keep fit and healthy.

He stressed that the Court must maintain its performance and improve it though reward and punishment to its staff members. “I understand that [state civil apparatus] management has state-regulated mechanism and procedure, but it is not that institutions cannot play their role in giving reward and punishment to its staff members,” he said.

He concluded his remarks by congratulating staff members who received Satyalancana Karya Satya for 10, 20, and 30 years of service. “They are the state’s and the Court leadership’s tokens of appreciation for your dedication as state civil apparatus. I would also like to congratulate staff members and model staff members. May you be role models for others,” he said.

At the ceremony, the Court awarded 15 civil servants and contract workers as well as Satyalancana Karya Satya for 9 civil servants for 10, 20, and 30 years of service. Ida Ria Tambunan and Sigit Purnomo received Satyalancana Karya Satya for 30 years of service; Bambang Sukmadi, Dewi Nurul Savitri, Yuni Nurhayati, Lina Herlina, and Sarah for 20 years of service; and Abdul Ghoffar Luthfi and Widagdo Eddyono for 10 years of service. Andi Hakim, Yohana Citra Permatasari, and Wiryanto were made model structural officials; Nanda Adytiansyah, Sri Haryanti, and Pan Mohamad Faiz model functional officials; and Sylvia Yuliani, Allita Prisantama, and Siska Yuniza implementing officials. Shofyan Shobakhi, Nurrahman Yakub M. Saleh, Restu Wulandari were declared model non-civil servant government employees (PPNPN); Tukimin, Saptaji, Suratman were model contract workers.
