JAKARTA, Public Relations—The Constitutional Court’s (MK) Chief Justice Anwar Usman attended the appointment of Prof. Dr. Tundjung Herning Sitabuana, S.H., C.N., M.Hum. as a law professor at Tarumanagara University on Saturday, July 2 at the 8th floor auditorium of Campus 1 of Tarumanagara University alongside Constitutional Justices Wahiduddin Adams, Suhartoyo, other constitutional justices, and Secretary-General M. “The Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 1945 was the beginning of the founding of our beloved country, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, a republic with popular sovereignty based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution,” Tundjung said in her remarks on “Strengthening the Determination and Spirit to Realize State Goals Based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution (An Overview from Legal and Political Perspectives)” at her appointment as a permanent law professor.
The purpose of the establishment of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) as mandated in paragraph four of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, Tundjung said, is to protect the entire Indonesian nation and the entire homeland and to promote public welfare, to educate the nation’s life, and to participate in world order based on freedom, eternal peace, and social justice.
“Meanwhile, Pancasila in relation to the state goals serves to describe the state goals, which must lead to the realization of a just and prosperous society in accordance with the values and spirit of Pancasila,” she said before officials of ministries/agencies as well as faculty members and students of Tarumanagara University, who attended the event online or onsite.
Another function of Pancasila, she added, is a process of achieving state goals that must continue to pay attention to and realize the dimensions that reflect the character and characteristics of Pancasila.
National Main Duty
Tundjung said efforts to realize the state goals are the main national duty, thus are a responsibility shared by all components of the nation—state administrators and all citizens alike.
