JAKARTA, Public Relations—The Constitutional Court (MK) collaborated with Ekasakti University (Unes) of Padang to organize a book review event on Friday, December 17, 2021. At the event, Constitutional Justice Saldi Isra as keynote speaker encouraged 50 onsite participants at the Meeting Building on the 1st floor of the university’s rectorate and 160 online participants on Zoom to write to save Indonesia’s law literacy.

“Good writing well is hard to achieve, so how will law literacy fare in the future? So, everyone must be forced to write. No need to think about criticisms, just write. Market response is another issue,” he said before the faculty members of the university—Rector Otong Rosadi, Deputy Rector I Agus Salim, Deputy Rector II Prima Novia, Deputy Rector III Mahmud, and Law Faculty Dean Darmini Roza.

Justice Saldi believes that good writing will motivte authors and others. Therefore, the Constitutional Court’s justices, researchers, substitute registrars, etc. produce books each year. This, he added, was the Court’s real contribution to Indonesia’s law literacy. He hoped it would incentivize review institutions, center for studies, higher education institutions, and law institutions to keep writing to channel their ideas and experiences in various fields.

At the event, two of the Court’s books were reviewed: Indonesian Constitutional Law: Selected Articles on Challenges and Development in Post-Constitutional Reform by Constitutional Justice Saldi Isra and researcher Pan Mohamad Faiz, as well as Pengujian Formil Undang-Undang di Mahkamah Konstitusi : Teori, Hukum Acara, dan Studi Perbandingan (“Formal Judicial Review in the Constitutional Court: Theories, Procedural Law, and Comparative Study”) by researchers Irfan Nur Rachman, Alboin Pasaribu, and M. Lutfi Chakim. Ekasakti University Rector Otong Rosadi and Law Faculty Dean Darmini Roza reviewed and provided criticisms of the books.
