MAKASSAR, Public Relations—Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Heru Setiawan opened a seminar on constitution awareness and community empowerment of constitution villages at the Law Faculty of Hasanuddin University, Makassar, South Sulawesi on Wednesday, October 27, 2021.

“Villages are a picture of Indonesia, and when we see Indonesia, we are looking at its villages. This commitment was made by the Constitutional Court 12 years ago by Mahfud MD by appointing a constitutional village,” he said in his speech. The Court, he said, continues to evaluate the public’s constitution awareness in order to find out the issues in the constitution villages: Galesong Village, Kampung Wasur, Bangbang Village, dan Nagari Pasia Laweh.

Based on the evaluation of those four constitution villages, the Court invited relevant ministries to improve the empowerment of those villages. In this seminar, the ministries were to explain their programs to do at the constitution villages. The seminar would also culminate in an action plan, which would be communicated to the ministers at the summit event in Galesong Village. Heru said the seminar was expected to provide early solutions to the empowerment of the constitution villages and others.

Previously, the faculty’s dean, Farida Pattitingi, said in her speech that she was proud to have organized the event and that the faculty had had collaborations with the Court for quite some time. She believed the Court as the guardian of human rights and as a judicial institution is also directly involved in the community through constitution awareness programs (PPHKWN).
