JAKARTA, Public Relations—Ahead of the upcoming 2nd Conference of the Judicial Conference of Constitutional and Supreme Courts/Councils of the OIC Member States/Observer States (The 2nd J-OIC Conference) slated for September 15-17, 2021, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) held a technical meeting with the J-OIC Working Committee on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.
The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Heru Setiawan. The other J-OIC Working Committee delegations attended the hearing virtually from their respective countries. Heru opened the meeting by discussing general information of the conference’s technical preparation.
“Today we will discuss several agendas: the general information of the event, the documents needed by the delegates who will attend it on premise in Bandung, the member state’s confirmation of attendance, and the materials to be discussed in the conference,” he said before the other delegates, such as the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Algeria Kamel Fennich and representative of the Embassy of Pakistan in Indonesia Jamal Nasir.
Next, Head of the International Affairs Division Immanuel Hutasoit informed the floor that 28 countries had confirmed their attendance, including Malaysia, the Maldives, the Philippines, Lebanon, Korea, and Turkey. He also explained the rundown of the event and the speakers who will deliver presentations.
The first conference of the organization was held in Turkey on December 14-15, 2018. It resulted in the Istanbul Declaration. The participants agreed to hold a conference periodically to discuss the constitution and Human Rights. In the first conference also formed, a working committee was formed—consisting of Indonesia, Turkey, Algeria, Pakistan, and Gambia. The committee will discuss the form and programs of this international forum for constitutional review bodies in states affiliated with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
